Tips for Referring Dogs
- Be up front about the animal's behaviour
- Arrange to meet prospective owners somewhere neutral
- Ask about the new home: What's the fencing like? How much space will the dog have?
- If the dog is going to a home that already has a dog, ensure both dogs get the opportunity to mix freely - off leash parks are great for this.
Tips for Adopting Dogs
- Know the breed! This is important. Not all breeds are suitable for all people (or existing pets).
- Is your home ready for a Husky or Malamute? Is it securely fenced?
- Be prepared to exercise the dog(s) regularly. With the northern breeds, particulary Huskies, daily exercise is essential.
- Ask plenty of questions about the dog up for adoption. We ask set questions when a dog is put up for adoption, but these are not always answered fully.
